TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Matthew's instruction is anchored in a clear, results-driven philosophy that revolves around three essential performance pillars: developing enough distance to compete, managing ball curvature, and controlling low point. These fundamentals form the backbone of every coaching decision, whether guiding a first-time player or refining the skills of a tournament competitor.

Rather than chasing a textbook or aesthetic swing, Matthew prioritizes function over form, focusing on what produces consistent results under pressure. Every student’s setup and swing mechanics are customized to support their unique body type, movement tendencies, and playing goals ensuring they build efficient, repeatable patterns that can perform when it counts.

Known for his attention to detail, clear communication, and patient, relationship-driven coaching, Matthew creates an environment where players feel supported in their growth. His long-term development plans incorporate structured practice, progress tracking, and performance feedback, allowing students to steadily build skill and confidence.

As he works toward his goal of becoming a PGA Master Professional in Teaching & Coaching, Matthew is committed to helping every golfer not only elevate their performance but also deepen their love for the game. His ultimate mission is to inspire a journey of continual improvement, self-discovery, and joy both on and off the course.

Kalan Strable

Since we started working together in September 2024, Kalan’s hard work and dedication have paid off. He’s gone from a personal best of 74 to competing in multiple tournaments, shooting 67 as his new low round, and earning multiple Top 10 finishes in Carolinas Golf Association Junior Boys events. I’ve been fortunate to coach such a talented player and help him reach his goals.

Luke Goins

Since beginning our work together in September 2024, Luke Goins has made tremendous strides in his game. His dedication and effort have quickly translated into success, with consistent improvement and multiple strong performances in U.S. Kids Golf tournaments. Luke has begun earning wins on the U.S. Kids circuit and continues to build confidence with every event. It’s been rewarding to see his hard work pay off, and I’m excited to see how far he can go.

Grady Hall

Grady is just 8 years old, but he’s already playing like a seasoned competitor. Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of coaching him and watching his game elevate to a new level. From sharpening his fundamentals to learning how to manage tournament pressure, Grady’s progress has been incredible. He recently won the Raleigh Local U.S. Kids Tour. In the future he has his eyes on U.S. Kids Worlds in Pinehurst next year. Grady is as driven and focused as they come, and the best is yet to come.
